Module 1 — Professional Foundations of Nursing Practice
This module introduces participants to the evolving professional roles of nurses beyond hospital-based care. Learners explore scope of practice, ethical responsibilities, accountability, and humanitarian principles that guide nursing work in community, NGO, and international health settings. The module establishes the professional, ethical, and contextual foundation for the rest of the program
Module 2 — Infection Prevention & Control in Low-Resource Settings
This module focuses on practical principles of infection prevention and control in community and low-resource environments. Participants examine how infections spread, how outbreaks emerge, and how prevention strategies can be implemented in clinics, outreach programs, and humanitarian settings. The module emphasizes safety, prevention, and community-level preparedness.
Module 3 — Advanced Community & Public Health Nursing
This module develops participants’ ability to support community-based health programs and public health initiatives. Learners explore primary health care frameworks, maternal and child health promotion, health education strategies, and approaches for working with vulnerable populations. The focus is on prevention, education, and population-level impact rather than clinical treatment.
This module introduces the structure and principles of humanitarian response and disaster management. Participants learn about emergency preparedness, coordination frameworks, ethical decision-making in crises, and the role of nurses in multidisciplinary humanitarian teams. The module prepares learners to function effectively within organized humanitarian and NGO responses.
Module 5 — Clinical Support Skills (Non-Invasive & Non-Clinical)
This module develops non-invasive clinical support competencies, including patient observation, documentation, reporting, and referral processes. Learners focus on recognizing warning signs, supporting clinical teams, and ensuring continuity of care through appropriate escalation and communication—without performing clinical procedures or interventions.
This module addresses the psychological and social dimensions of health in community and humanitarian settings. Participants learn about stress, trauma, displacement, and burnout, as well as how to provide basic psychosocial support and psychological first aid. The module emphasizes supportive communication, resilience, and appropriate referral.
Final Module — Applied Project: NGO Health Program Simulation
In this capstone module, participants apply what they have learned by designing a simulated community or NGO health program. Learners conduct a needs assessment, propose a health intervention, integrate infection prevention and psychosocial considerations, and develop a basic reporting framework. This module consolidates learning and demonstrates professional readiness.
