Module 1: Canadian Pharmacy System & Workplace Standards
This module introduces learners to the structure of community pharmacies in Canada, with a focus on Ontario workplace standards. Learners will gain a clear understanding of different professional roles within a pharmacy, the regulatory framework governing pharmacy practice in Ontario, ethical and legal responsibilities related to patient privacy, and the expectations of professional conduct in Canadian healthcare workplaces. This foundational knowledge helps learners integrate more effectively into pharmacy environments and communicate appropriately with pharmacists, technicians, and patients.
This module provides learners with foundational knowledge of pharmacy terminology and the basic structure of prescriptions used in Canadian community pharmacies. The focus is on developing familiarity with common terms, medication forms, and standard prescription components, while clearly respecting the non-clinical scope of the Pharmacy Assistant role. By completing this module, learners will be better prepared to understand pharmacy workflows, communicate effectively with pharmacists and technicians, and support safe and efficient prescription processing in a pharmacy setting.
This module focuses on the front-line responsibilities of pharmacy assistants related to patient intake and customer service in Canadian community pharmacies. Learners will develop an understanding of how patients are welcomed, registered, and supported within the pharmacy environment, as well as how professional communication and service standards contribute to a positive patient experience. Emphasis is placed on respectful interaction, accurate information handling, and maintaining professionalism in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
This module introduces learners to the digital workflow of Canadian community pharmacies through guided simulations of pharmacy management software systems. The focus is on building operational familiarity with common system functions used in daily pharmacy operations, including patient profile management, prescription intake workflows, labeling processes, and refill handling. While learners will not access live pharmacy systems, structured simulations and scenario-based exercises will prepare them to adapt more quickly to real-world pharmacy software environments.
This module introduces learners to the foundational principles of inventory support, labeling practices, and safety protocols in Canadian community pharmacies. The focus is on developing operational awareness related to medication storage, stock organization, expiry management, and basic safety practices within the pharmacy environment. While pharmacy assistants do not make clinical decisions, their support role in inventory handling and labeling contributes to efficient workflow and a safe, organized pharmacy setting.

Module 7: Employment Readiness & Career Preparation
This module prepares learners for successful entry into the Canadian job market for pharmacy support roles. The focus is on building practical employment readiness skills, including resume preparation, interview skills, workplace communication, and job search strategies specific to community pharmacy environments in Ontario. Learners will gain confidence in presenting their skills to employers and navigating early workplace expectations in Canadian healthcare settings.
