MODULE 1 – Introduction to the Canadian Beauty Industry
This module introduces students to the structure, expectations, and professional standards of the Canadian beauty and aesthetics industry. Learners will gain an understanding of how internationally trained beauty professionals can transition into the Canadian market, including the non-medical practice boundaries that govern all salon-based services. The module also explores ethical responsibilities, informed consent, client rights, and industry-specific workplace behavior. Special emphasis is placed on communication skills, cultural sensitivity, inclusivity, and adapting beauty services to Canada’s diverse population. By the end of this module, students will understand the professional environment they will work in and the standards they must follow to operate safely and ethically.
This module introduces foundational, non-chemical hair styling techniques aligned with Canadian salon workplace standards. Learners develop theoretical understanding and observe demonstrations of brushing, blow-dry basics, and simple updos, with a strong focus on hygiene, tool safety, and client consultation. Practical components are demonstration-based and designed for workplace readiness and safe practice.
This module provides learners with foundational knowledge of haircut structures and professional workflows through guided observation and demonstration. The focus is on understanding basic haircut concepts, tool handling, safety protocols, and professional boundaries in Canadian salon environments. Practical components are observation-based only and do not include hands-on haircutting on live models.
